To keep your sound processor working properly
-
Excess moisture is one of the main causes of sound processor failure.
-
With your sound processor, you received a storage box to remove moisture. We recommend you use it every day to keep your sound processor working properly.
-
For types of box using a drying capsule, always close the cover of your box, even when you’re not using it, to prevent the crystals in the drying capsule from absorbing moisture from the room air, which will cause them to wear out prematurely.
-
You can leave the disposable (non-rechargeable) batteries in your sound processor when you put it in the drying box. Your audiologist will let you know if you can use rechargeable batteries.
-
Note that you can also place your sound processor and a drying capsule in any airtight container with a lid or even in a Dri-Aid Kit bag.
Dry-Brik II dessicant blocks
Reusable plastic capsule
- Place the capsule on the rack for this purpose in your drying box.
- The orange crystals turn dark green when they are full of moisture.
-
If the crystals are all green, reactivate by heating the capsule in a microwave oven for 1 minute. If necessary, repeat for another 30 seconds, until all crystals are orange.
-
Let the capsule cool down before placing it back into the dehumidifier.
-
Caution : Do not overheat. Keep out of the reach of children.
Dry & Store reusable metal can
- Remove the label from both sides of the can before use.
- Place the can on the rack for this purpose in your drying box.
- A small window in the centre of the can lets you see the colour of the crystals.
- When the crystals are pale (orange), they are ready to absorb moisture.
- When the crystals are dark (green), it means they are full of moisture and are no longer effective. You will have to place the metal can in a conventional oven preheated to 300˚F until the crystals turn orange again (approximately 60-90 minutes). Wait until the can cools down before placing it back in the case.
- Check the colour of the crystals regularly and “recharge” the can in the oven as needed.
- Caution : Never put the can in the microwave.

Drying box without capsule
There are several types of boxes that do not require capsules, eg: DryStar, Perfect Dry, Cedis, etc.
Just put the processor (without the rechargeable battery) inside and turn it on.
